Udstilling hos Designer Zoo i Århus ..

 

Her i weekenden åbnet min udstilling i den fantastiske butik Designer Zoo som ligger i hyggelige badstugade i Århus.. Og jeg er bare super tilfreds med den. De lyse ege rammer fra Lyrum rammer giver sådan en fin finish  -- og det er så flotte lokaler at se sine værker i. Udstillingen kører helt til den 17. januar, så tag enedelig turen indom.

Rammeværk, Udstilling & Edition..

Jeg skal udstille hos Designer Zoo i Århus! Joho ! 

På lørdag er det fernisering fra 12-14 - og alle der befinder sig i Århus området er selvfølgelig hjertelig velkommen. Det er en lille samling nye originaler og tryk som kommer op å henge .. og der bliver de til 17. januar.. Jeg glæder mig vildt til selv at se dem, og sniger mig nok væk en time eller to fra årets Edition, for at s hvordan udstillingen har blevet.

Lyrum rammer har bare været så super søde og hjulpet mig med rammer på meget kort varsel, på trods af at de er midt i det traveleste julegave rush. Og jeg har fået fat i deres flotte rammer i Eg. Glæder mig rigtig meget til at vise det hele frem. Og selvfølgelig kommer det også op på bloggen.. 

 

Skulle du befinde dig i Århus i weekenden, er Østrems Firma at finde på Kunst og Designmarkedet Edition.. Det bliver julestemning, og en masse gode ting at få fingrene i .. Der kommer en masse seje designere, blandt andet de skønne damer Christina fra  NACA, og Karina Bækkelund.. Så kom kom kom :)

I have been working with some linocuts .. I love it. Getting my hands dirty and getting som power into my designs..

BABUSHKA MATROSJKA BABUSHKA

Start july, I teached at this years Drawing Camp 2013 at Billedskolen Horsens. The kids there are so dedicated and insanly skilled - and it is so much fun teaching them. The theme this year was "From Russia with love" and at my workshop the kids experimented with materials, and designed Babushka dolls..

The two artist from Russia was Ivan Gerts & Zhenya Isaeva. They were super friendly made some really cool things with the kids.. The drawing is made by Zhenya..

 

Into the wilderness ..

There are so many things happening in the garden and in the window.. The cucumber is climbing, the radishes is big enough to eat, the basil is growing like crazy! 

I love having my home filled woth green plants. 

Outside the kitchen garden hasn´t been as succesful as I hade hoped - but I think its normal for a new ground and earth. I am hoping that next season will be better.. In the meantime I just need to be patient :) I´ve tastet the first strawberry, and I am looking forward to tasting the beans and peas. 

 For my birthday I was given this beautiful, yellow rose from Cille & Rune.. I love it!

New lamps at the office..

Making mascots for Nydamskolen ..

I had the wildest teaching assignment in the end of june.. During 3 hours I was to make 8 mascots, together with no less then 209 kids, from 6-10 years old. They we´re divided into groups and given a part of the mascot that was their to make. The rules we´re simple. Each mascot was given a color code, which the kids needed to follow. And they had to use paint. 

 


















Eventhough it was a little chaotic at times - Iam really pleased with the result. The youngest really impressed me, by working very focused and getting the task right away. And also I think we should be very grateful for our teachers, because they are doing such an amazing job. After spending a whol day with kids on Nydam skolen I sleept like a baby! 

"Kladdehæftet" af Irmelin Prehn

One of my old friends Irmelin Prehn, is a writer and she debuted with the mini-novel 

”Dusk-Fredløs” earlier this year. It´s been a while since we last spoke, and I was curious to 
find out what she was writing about.
She sent me one of her poems, ”Kladdehæftet” . And what a poem it is.

Kladdehæfte 

Så ser det mere rigtigt ud
Siger Dansklæreren
Så ligner det et digt
Men det er drengene der har Ordet
De er så undertrykte når ikke de kommer til udtryk
Så ser det mere rigtigt ud det er Så synd for dem
Så ligner det et digt men det er bare en pæn pige der har skrevet
skråskrift i et kladdehæfte og det er synd for drengene at de er
drenge og synd for pigerne at de er piger
Dumme piger og Pæne drenge der hiver i hestehaler og siger
Hyp Hyp
Og Pigerne
Følger drengene til dressurridning
Med helt rene negle

So I wanted to make an illustration out of it. This beautiful text, translates into notebook, and as I see it, it is about the equality between boys and girls. I’m not much of an analyst, but I love the sore undertone to this poem, with a naive and innocent approach. The mix of soft and harsh and the confusion between how to be right and wrong. 

The more I read it, the more I like it.. and this is what came out of it..  

I really loved making this illustration. It was inspiring to work with Irmelines words and thoughts, and challenging to add something of my own to it, and trying to keep the essence of the poem.

* Poster competition *

In Sønderborg there is a big tradition every summer called tilting or in Danish, Ringridning. It’s a competition where the competitors are riding towards an ever-decreasing ring with a lance. This year it’s their 125th anniversary and I joined the poster competition.

 
Haven’t drawn horses since I was a little girl, and I had so much fun with it. My thoughts were to show that this is a big feast for this area, and it is not just about the competition, but also abet the town and the people celebrating Sønderborgs history and the traditions in Jutland.

I didn’t win the competition - Jørgen Terp did :) But I really like his simple design. And the colours are good for the anniversary. He is a graphic designer, and you can read more about his poster here...

Finally the spring came ! I have been waiting and waiting :) So many exciting things are happening outside, and also in the office.

I started this tiny rockery, and I hope to expand it little by little.. have to be a littly sneaky, so that the mister dont get suspicious ;)

Here you can see our garden -- on this side of the bikes, we are gonna make our vegetable garden! My tomatoeplants are growing like beasts inside, and I hope they will do just as well outside..

I have been running faster, and longer than ever before, and I love it! But besides a big smile on my face it has also resulted in four big holes in my beautiful running shoes! I guess I will have to part with them soon.. But they have been soo good to me :)

I am making this mixed post, because there has been so many things lately.. This first one is a qoute that made my day.. Go big :)

Last weekend we were at the beach. It was sunny and I couldnt resist writing a little hello...

Yesterday I was such a housefrau ! I made homemade outmeal cookies - not healthy 

despite the ingredient there.. but Yummy! 

 

  And then I made a Zuccinin lasagne .. Healthy - and OOH-- ´goood! You can find the recipe here

I found some illustrations made by Carl Larsson (top) and Mary Cassatt, that I really like. 

I remember Larsson from growing up - I had childrens books illustrated by him, 

and it brings back  good memories.  

Cassatt was an American painter, who spent alot of time in Paris. I really love their yellow colour palette, and the old school drawing.
